North Wales Wildlife Trust is celebrating 60 years (1963-2023) working for wildlife working together with our local supporters, members and partners to help protect wildlife across North Wales.

The Môn Gwyrdd youth forum, which began in 2016, is a group of young people aged between 11 and 24 who are passionate about learning about the environment and helping bring communities on Anglesey together to protect it.

Gwneud Traciau (Making Tracks) is an exciting new project, based in the village of Dolgarrog, in the heart of the beautiful Conwy Valley. The village is well known for its industrial past and the 1925 Eigiau Dam Disaster. The Project aims to increase biodiversity in the wider landscape and create accessible routes where wildlife and people can thrive together.

As global governments come together at COP26, the need to tackle the climate crisis has never been clearer. Yet we cannot tackle the climate emergency without similar ambition to meet the nature crisis head on. Peatlands are one of our most important habitats, providing homes for rare wildlife and locking up carbon, helping us tackle climate change. But in the UK over 80% are damaged. Partly due to our use of peat as a compost and using it to grow products such as house plants and mushrooms. North Wales Wildlife Trust, together with the Wildlife Trusts across the UK, is campaigning to keep peat in bogs and not bags.

The Limestone Grassland Community Roots Project is an inspiring initiative, bringing people together to save threatened limestone grasslands near Llanddulas, including Craig y Forwyn, Mynydd Marian, and Pen y Corddyn Mawr and Bach. Volunteers, citizen scientists, and local communities will take action against invasive cotoneaster, protect rare wildlife, and restore vital habitats. Through hands-on conservation and engagement, we’re building a legacy for nature and people.

Stand for Nature Wales is a national youth climate change project with a big ambition!

The five Wildlife Trusts in Wales have come together to mobilise young people to tackle the climate and ecological crises head-on. For the next three years, we will be working to empower and inspire young people to take action for nature and wildlife in their local area and unite their communities in an effort to reduce their collective environmental impact. From urban Cardiff to rural Anglesey, young people are standing up for nature and securing a greener future.
