Join a guided walk taking in the sights and sounds of Gwaith Powdwr at dusk …

Have you ever wondered what a goatsucker sounds like? Have you ever seen a glow-worm glowing and wondered why? There are two guided walks taking place at Gwaith Powdwr Nature Reserve this June to enjoy the local ‘nightlife’. On the edge of Snowdonia National Park, a designated ‘International Dark Skies Reserve’, this is a fascinating example of a post-industrial nature reserve with fascinating nocturnal wildlife. Join reserve officer Rob Booth for a moderate walk with handheld bat detectors – we’ll look for and listen to bats, nightjars, glow-worms and more.

The walks are on Wednesday 5 and Friday 14 June at 9pm (£2 members, £4 non-members – or free to those who join NWWT as members on the night!). Meet at the industrial estate entrance by the white gates to the reserve, SH615388 / LL48 6LY.  Bring a torch and be prepared for midges.
