Magnificent Minera

A lone tree sitting on the side of a hill, lots of bare loose rock is visible between the grass and a large cliff face forms the peak of the hill. The sky is bright blue with almost no cloud.

About the event

With an industrial history spanning over 400 years, Minera Quarry is arguably as important culturally as it is for wildlife. Originally mined for its lead and later quarried for valuable limestone (until 1994), nature is now reclaiming the land.

As we follow the route of the old lead mine railway, we'll look out for round-leaved wintergreen, a huge number of broad-leaved helleborines and plenty of other wildlife!

This event is being run by the local Wrexham Volunteer Branch of North Wales Wildlife Trust.
