Isn’t wildlife amazing? North Wales is full of nature using its super powers to breathe, eat, drink, swim, fly, hide, save the planet and even go on holiday!

Did you know?

  • Ospreys have a transparent eyelid that protects their eyes underwater.
  • Common frogs can breathe and drink through their skin.
  • Dormice can spend nearly nine months of the year asleep.
  • Painted lady butterflies can migrate an amazing 5,000 miles.
  • Common cuttlefish can rapidly change colour and texture to merge into their background.
  • Peregrine falcons are capable of super speeds of up to 200 miles per hour.
  • Sea Grass is responsible for 15% of the ocean’s total carbon absorption.
  • Oyster mushrooms are carnivores that secrete a powerful toxin to stun passing microscopic worms.
  • Sphagnum mosses can soak up more than eight times their own weight in water.
  • Yew trees live an exceptionally long time. One tree in Llangernyw is estimated to be as old as 5,000 years.

As a nature lover, you too have a super power! Once you have provided for your loved ones, you can help protect local wildlife and wild places for future generations by leaving a gift in your Will to North Wales Wildlife Trust.

Legacies already do powerful things in recent years, they’ve helped us manage nature reserves, plant trees, protect individual species, save wildlife sites and help schoolchildren make beautiful wildlife gardens – but there is clearly so much more that could be done.

“I know how all the work the Trust undertakes has to be supported financially and how valuable a legacy could be when added to my existing membership” Diane
