Chris Packham’s UK Bioblitz

Chris Packham’s UK Bioblitz

Every year and all year, Anglesey welcomes thousands of visitors. This year, at the early-bird time of 7.00am on 20 July, wildlife enthusiasts are in for the chance to see a particularly unusual visitor to Cemlyn ...

TV presenter and passionate naturalist, Chris Packham, will be at Cemlyn as part of his UK Bioblitz campaign – an audit of UK wildlife using ‘citizen science’.

The UK Bioblitz has the serious purpose of building a ‘snapshot’ of our wildlife, helping to measure the changing fortunes of species and habitats across the UK, and not just on designated nature conservation sites.  At Cemlyn, Chris Packham and the UK Bioblitz teams will take part in field studies to records all the living wildlife and plant species.  The Bioblitz teams will include wildlife experts, scientists, volunteers and people with all backgrounds and abilities – including you!

Chris’s personal flying visit will kick-start a busy day of ‘bioblitzing’ at Cemlyn nature reserve, hosted by North Wales Wildlife Trust and the National Trust. From 09.00 to 14.00, we’ve organised events and surveys which will let you become part of the team gathering information on Cemlyn’s spectacular biodiversity on land, sea and sky.

A full list of activities will be published closer to the day itself – check out our website for the latest.
