We are excited to share our new logo - co-designed by Cymell, Canolfan Adysg Y Bont, Oriel Môn and Herds of Birds, working alongside the project staff and steering group. We are really happy with how it turned out and we hope that you like it too!

So, what does co-designing a logo really mean?
We started with a visit to Cors Bodeilio, using photography and audio kit (kindly loaned by TAPE Community Music and Film) to capture the sights and sounds. Our Education & Community Wildlife Officer, Anna Williams joined the group to help highlight some of the key features, animals, insects and plants.
Everyone brought their own unique perspective, which included a budding David Attenborough-style audio commentary team, conversations with lambs, close-up photos of plants and insects, plus photos of friends in the landscape, and abstract images that helped highlight the range of patterns and colours in nature at the site. It even led to a piece of original music inspired by the visit. There were so many unique and wonderful ways that people interpreted the corsydd!
The visits to the corsydd were thoroughly enjoyed by all, the pupils loved being outdoors, spotting wildlife, taking photos, and recording sounds to help with the logo design.”
Our challenge was then how to get all of that into a logo!
The fantastic Kirsty and Kally from Oriel Môn stepped up to the challenge of helping us bring all this together, working with the groups over several sessions at the gallery. Using what we had captured through film, photos and audio, as well as our collective memories of the sites, we started to get the key themes, shapes and colours that would make up our new logo.
It was fantastic seeing the images drawn by the pupils come to life in the logo design
After some very creative sessions, we ended up with six potential designs and a whole range of artwork that was then sent to our designer, Matt at Herds of Birds, to bring together into some digital designs that we could then make final adjustments to.
Matt created a first draft of three potential designs for the group to discuss. The groups met at Oriel Môn for the grand reveal of the first draft designs. They discussed what they liked, what they didn’t like, and what they would like to change or add to each design.
Joining the group via video link, Matt explained the process he had gone through with each of the designs and asked for the group’s feedback. We also talked through where we might use our logo and what different versions we may need to create.
The final versions were then shared with the groups, and the project steering group, ready for final feedback and the big reveal!

Reflecting on the co-design process, Kirsty Baker, Learning and Engagement Manager at Oriel Môn said, ‘It has given us the opportunity to explore the links between our collections, the natural environment, and local sites. We have also been fortunate to build a successful working relationship with North Wales Wildlife Trust and are looking forward to future collaborations.’
We’ve also made an animated version of the logo, using the music inspired by our visits. We’re looking forward to sharing it with you soon!
