Wetland wonders at Corsydd Calon Môn

Wetland wonders at Corsydd Calon Môn

Our Corsydd Calon Môn project commissioned artist Elly Strigner to work with local communities to produce some beautiful illustrations that capture the richness of these wonderful places. The project aims to secure the future of the Anglesey Fens and, at the same time, celebrate their rich history.

This World Wetlands Day (2 Feb) you can discover some of the cultural and natural heritage of the sites that make up the UK’s second largest fenland through these incredible illustrations produced by Elly Strigner.

The illustrations were developed through community site visits working with over 50 people as part our partnership project, Corsydd Calon Môn.

Working with the different groups and site experts, and learning about the many intriguing plants, wildlife, stories, history and folklore connected to the Corsydd has been fascinating. I’ve really enjoyed creating the illustrations.

A huge thank you to all the Natural Resources Wales (NRW) and North Wales Wildlife Trust staff, Merched Merchyr, Jules Cooper and everyone who came along and took part in the Fentastic Days events, for helping shape what went into the illustrations.

Most of all thank you, Elly!
