Our tree nurseries

Did you know that we have our own tree nurseries?

Since 2020, our tree nurseries at Aberduna, near Mold, and Gwaith Powdwr, near Penrhyndeudraeth have, with help from a small team of staff and volunteers, grown from supplying our own projects to supplying customers.

We mostly grow native and naturalised trees and are working towards collecting all of our tree seed and cuttings locally across North Wales (Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham) to align with the local provenance zones of 303, 304 and 302.

If you’re planning on creating a woodland, planting a hedgerow or shelterbelt, or restoring scattered trees to a hillside, we’d love your custom!

Visits to our tree nurseries are by appointment only.
Due to current capacity, we have a minimum order policy.
Orders must be £100 or over (excluding VAT).

If you are interested in species not currently offered by us for sale, please let us know as we are interested in growing a wider variety of local provenance native trees and can add them to our range in future.

Plant Passport Health Scheme accreditation

Our tree nurseries are Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) inspected annually to ensure valid plant passport status, in compliance with plant health regulations. This ensures the traceability of regulated plants.

UK and Ireland Sourced and Grown (UKISG) accreditation

The UK and Ireland Sourced and Grown (UKISG) accreditation is a voluntary initiative for forest nurseries, devised by the Woodland Trust. It identifies the provenance of stock to buyers and assures that trees have been raised from seed sourced and grown solely within the UK and Ireland for its entire lifespan.

#why

Why do we have our own tree nurseries?

Our tree nurseries support the work of North Wales Wildlife Trust by providing trees of local provenance for conservation projects and raising funds to support our work. We are also growing some of the rarer UK varieties from locally-sourced trees including small-leaved lime, wild service tree and black poplar, to help restore their place in the landscape.

Our tree nurseries are also an educational and wellbeing resource, providing a welcome space for people to meet and learn all about trees, why we need more of them, and how people can help us help plant trees to restore nature.
