Remembering Paul Day

£266 raised in Paul's memory

In loving memory of Paul Day (d. 2025)

As a graduate from University College London Paul was throughout his career a committed ecologist and public servant. His career predominantly entailed working for the Nature Conservancy Council, the Countryside Council for Wales and lastly Natural Resources Wales. Throughout his career he provided advice and guidance to so many aspiring ecologists. He continued dedication helped to ensure a range of upland, lowland and coastal sites could be safeguarded for generations.

Paul was not a 9 to 5 ecologist! Throughout his career and retirement Paul would more than happily carry out surveys for species such as bats and newts, whatever the time of day ..or night and whatever the weather . Paul pioneered approaches to ensuring the resourced long-term management and surveillance of biodiversity without reliance on the exchequer. Following retirement, Paul remained active as a keen rambler, and served as secretary to the Dee Estuary Conservation Group and as a board member of Building Wildlife.

His lasting legacy is the safeguard of a diverse network of wildlife sites throughout North East Wales that will of benefit to future generations.
