About the event

We will introduce you to our intertidal rocky shore surveys, show you how to survey/identify the wildlife we discover and find out more about how you can join our regular surveys or carry out vital monitoring in your own time.

Open to people of all levels (16+ only)

Mobility

Access to the beach is along a sandy path and pebbly-sandy shore. The survey area is approx 500 metres along the shore.

The survey area itself is very uneven and slippery with areas to avoid such as rockpools and wildlife. You will need to be close to the wildlife, which means bending and/or kneeling.

Not suitable for wheeled mobility aids.

Travel:

Buses to Llanfair (20 min walk to meeting point) and trains to Llandanwg (5min walk) are frequent (https://www.traveline.info/plan-a-journey)

Toilet

Council toilets can be found at the carpark and are reported to be open all year.

What to bring

Please wear clothing suitable for the weather and working on wet areas. Wear shoes with grip which you don't mind getting wet and salty (wellies are best).

Please bring a drink to remain hydrated. A bag is ideal to ensure you have hands free to investigate. A mobile is great to document your finds and help with developing your ability to identify.

All survey equipment will be provided.
