KC5 GETTING TO GRIPS WITH FISHING

Just before 1pm on Sunday (19/7/20) KC5 must have been hungry and waiting for lunch, so much so she decided to have a go at catching her own fish. What followed then was a sheer joy to watch. She left the nest, had a short fly around, flew directly over a fisherman fishing, swung around, returned flying low across the water in a fishing attempt right in front of the fisherman. No, she didn’t catch one so reverted to plan B, back to the nest, sat on the perch and called for HR7 to serve up lunch. Just after 1pm both BLUE24 and HR7 arrived back on the nest carrying the eagerly awaited meal. Immediately KC5 flew from the perch to the nest and tucked into the fish. BLUE24 finished it off afterwards.

The rest of the afternoon was equally spectacular. As 3pm was approaching KC5 took off from the nest followed by BLUE24 and HR7 with all 3 flying around together, then we could just see KC5 and we think HR7 flying together, BLUE24 may have been perched in a nearby tree. What a display the two of them put on, flying high up in the sky above Gors Maen Llwyd (NWWT reserve), then towards and in front of us almost reaching the NWWT Osprey Lookout site and back over Gors Maen Llwyd. What we witnessed next was sheer delight, BLUE24 had returned to the nest and HR7 was flying around while KC5 was flying and skimming the water. KC5 on returning to the nest perched herself on top of the camera. All 3 were back on the nest.
