KA5(ROLI) LEARNING TO FISH

We see Ospreys flying on the skyline over Gors Maen Llwyd (NWWT Reserve adjacent to Llyn Brenig) and above the conifers near the nest but are not always able to identify which ones.

Although we see less of the family now as they spend time away from the nest site we do get awesome surprises when they do appear suddenly from nowhere. KA5(ROLI) attempts at fishing are amazing to watch, we were fortunate to catch him making 3 successive attempts at dry fishing (seen frequently on Llyn Brenig). He was seen flying low over the water then his feet would go in, no fish on the first 2 attempts, we are not sure if it was a case of third time lucky and he caught a fish or he gave up and flew off! HR7 and KA5(ROLI) are seen together skimming the water.

The Ospreys are also seen on and off the nest with KA5(ROLI) spending quite a bit of time on the nest yesterday afternoon, he would stay for at least an hour at a time. We watched as he flew from one nest perch to the other and then onto the nest. We were also privy to an great audio performance of KA5(ROLI) and one of his parents calling to each other. Although we couldn’t see the other Osprey, KA5(ROLI) would call and one of the adults respond. Great stuff!
