About the reserve

Oak, ash and hazel trees create a thick leafy canopy in this steep-sided valley, providing shelter for lots of nesting birds and invertebrates.  The River Deri runs through the site, creating a natural corridor and providing the soundtrack to your visit. The moist air around the river creates an environment where mosses and ferns thrive, bringing their bright green colours into the dimly lit forest floor.  The reserve’s habitats contrast nicely with the large area of coniferous woodland that runs throughout this valley: the wider variety of trees and presence of the river provide opportunities for a more diverse range of species to flourish around them.

Directions
Abercorris lies on both sides of the River Deri, just off the A487: approximately mid-way between Dolgellau and Machynlleth. Between Upper (Corris Uchaf) and Lower Corris, park in the layby (SH749085) on the back road that runs parallel to the A487.
