Discover Living Seas Wales

RockpoolLiving Seas Wales

North Wales Wildlife Trust and Wildlife Trust South & West Wales have joined forces to bring you our Living Seas Wales. The project is due to launch in Summer 2018 as part of Wales’ Year of the Sea. The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) have awarded the Partnership £25,860 to develop the application for a full grant in November.

Living Seas is The Wildlife Trusts’ vision for the future of UK seas. Within Living Seas marine wildlife thrives from the depths of the ocean to the coastal shallows. We know our seas are at a turning point and as well as our advocacy work with the Welsh Government and Welsh politicians, we believe that local people, local communities and coastal visitors are the key to help reverse the decline in marine wildlife.

Our Living Seas Wales project will use awe-inspiring, pioneering and engaging experiences to build connections and inspire action for our seas. It will provide participants with opportunities to learn about, enjoy and contribute to the conservation of the marine environment and how they can impact on its future whether they live on the coast, use the marine environment for work or leisure, or live inland and visit the coast on holiday.

We will use a Wales-wide roadshow and activity programme to reach a wide audience and involve participants in the creation of an interactive peoples’ archive of marine heritage. Our project aims to help people to engage with, care for, and feel connected to the marine environment. In turn, to understand why they need to act and feel empowered to take action.
