Counting critters? Count us in!

Thursday 1st June 2017

We’re launching 30 Days Wild with our popular “Creature Count” event at Anglesey’s Cemlyn Nature Reserve on Saturday 3rd June.

Life can be so busy some days. You can find yourself looking back on your day and wondering where spending time in nature could have fitted in. But, with a bit of planning, it can be done and will be fun! A dinnertime trip to the local patch of trees, stop in a layby on your way home and do a bug hunt, have a panad listening to the birds wherever you are ... it’s fairly easy to fit something wild in every day (honest!).

In fact, we’re hoping you’ll already have signed up take part in The Wildlife Trusts’ 30 Days Wild campaign and committed to spend time in nature every day for the whole of June – if you haven’t, get in quick to make sure you get a pack through the post! We’ve provided a few events to help you out on some days and there will be more ideas in your pack or on our blog. We’d love to hear what you’ve been up to too – please let us know via Twitter and Facebook.

Here in North Wales, we’re launching 30 Days Wild with our popular “Creature Count” at Cemlyn Nature Reserve on Anglesey. We’ll be roaming around the various different environments on the reserve to see how many different creatures we can find – can you be the first to discover a soldier beetle? Can any of us pick out a strawberry sea anemone? Is that a porpoise? How many Sandwich terns!? What will be the count this year? Can’t tell your heron from your egret? – don’t’ worry; we’ll have plenty of people on hand to help.

It’s only with your help we can spread the word about how fascinating nature is – on your doorstep, on our nature reserves and all over North Wales. Please come along and, even better, share this invitation with friends! The more the merrier …

You can still sign up for 30 Days Wild until 3rd June ... click here.
