Taking green action not only makes your patch more enjoyable, but also offers chances to learn new skills, get active and meet new people.

Where are Green Horizons?

The project works throughout North East Wales with many activities currently taking place at Marford Quarry and Bryn Lane nature reserves in Wrexham.

Running community events and activities

Throughout the year we offer guided walks, wildlife talks, bird-box making, woodland crafts, minibeast hunts, composting workshops, sustainable living fun days, family conservation days.

Helping people learn new skills

We offer opportunities for people to learn new skills including wildlife gardening, hedgelaying, fencing, nest-box and bird table making, tree care, growing your own food, wildlife conservation management.

Working with local groups and schools

We run activities for local groups on request. Examples include wildlife gardening, apple tree grafting, compost bin making, cider making, community wildlife surveys and moth discovery nights.

Encouraging people to live more sustainably

We can give advice and information on how to easily live a greener life and reduce your carbon footprint and suggest sources of further information.

Volunteering

We hold regular conservation volunteering days at Marford Quarry and Bryn Lane nature reserves and at other sites in North East Wales. Recent activities have included hedgelaying, grassland management, woodland management, scrub control, pond management, placing nest boxes, photo-monitoring and reserve maintenance.
